Way Self-Indulgent

This is another post interesting only to my mom and maybe a couple of other people. However, I couldn’t resist.

According to this website, my Jungian personality type is:

ESTP - “Promotor”. Fiercely competitive. Entrepreneur. Often uses shock effect to get attention. Negotiator par excellence. 4.3% of total population.

I don’t know about this. I’m not competitive unless someone else gets competitive first, and would rather work at Kinko’s than start my own business. As far as shock effect, I guess I did have pink hair once upon a time (2001, see above). Other than that, though, I’m skeptical. The one point I will concede is that I am, in fact, a negotiator par excellence. Just ask my mom.

My favorite question from the test?

I am very wounded at the core.

I am happy to report I that the answer is a resounding “no.”

According to Merriam Webster on-line (www.m-w.com) competitive means “inclined, desiring, or suited to compete

and here’s how they say about compete:

    Main Entry: com·pete
Etymology: Late Latin competere to seek together, from Latin, to come together, agree, be suitable, from com- + petere to go to, seek — more at FEATHER
: to strive consciously or unconsciously for an objective (as position, profit, or a prize) : be in a state of rivalry

I’d say that you are “fiercely competitive” in the sense that you “strive fiercely” for objectives—you know, that “nail the jello to the wall” tendency. Being competitive doesn’t have to mean wanting success just for yourself; competition is often a group effort, a way of bringing people together to win over the opposition. That’s you!

Entrepeneur? Maybe not. But maybe if you really did work for Kinkos for a year or two you would find your inner entrepeneur.

And yep, you are an ace negotiator—even though you didn’t win that argument for a car when you were 16.

Aww I miss the pink hair!!! I’d say you’re competitive in a good way–you see what you want and you go for it! Much love.

I’d actually believe the ESTP…check out the ESTP socionics analysis (and I warn you: they’re a bit odd with their belief that this somehow corresponds with one’s physical appearance… Are your eyebrows asymmetrical??) :

    Funny.
